Use parental controls with DIRECTV STREAM
Now you can be sure everyone in the family can watch age-appropriate content with DIRECTV STREAM.

Watch worry-free with parental controls. It’s easy to set up a 4-digit personal identification number (PIN) to control who can watch shows with certain content ratings. Be sure to set up parental controls on every device your family uses. These settings don’t carry over from device to device.
Heads up: You can try to confirm your PIN 5 times. After that, you'll have to enter your DIRECTV STREAM sign-in info to continue. Can’t remember your PIN? Select Forgot PIN to reset it.
Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, or Roku
- Open DIRECTV STREAM on your TV.
- Go to Settings and then Preferences.
- Select Parental Controls and follow the prompts.
Heads up: DIRECTV STREAM’s parental control features do not apply to third party streaming apps on your DIRECTV device.
DIRECTV app
- Open the app from your smartphone or tablet.
- Go to Settings.
- Select Parental Controls and toggle ON or OFF.
- Enter your 4-digit PIN. The first time you set it up, you’ll have to confirm your PIN.
Safari® or Chrome browser
- Go to DIRECTV STREAM.
- Select the gear icon
to open your settings. - In the General section, select the padlock next to Parental Controls.
- Enter your 4-digit PIN. The first time you set it up, you’ll have to confirm your PIN.
- Turn Parental Controls ON or OFF, and adjust the settings.
Good to know: DIRECTV STREAM parental controls will be available soon on Chromecast.

Movies
- G: General audiences. Most parents find this material suitable for all ages.
- PG: Parental guidance suggested. Parents may find portions of this material unsuitable for younger children.
- PG-13: Parents strongly cautioned. Portions of this material may be unsuitable for children under 13.
- R: Restricted. This material is specifically designed for adult viewing and may be unsuitable for children under 17.
- NC-17: Adult content. Material contains intense, disturbing, or graphic themes or content that isn’t suitable for children under 17.
- X: Explicit sexual content. This material is intended for adults only.
TV shows
- TV-Y: All children. This program is designed to be appropriate for all children.
- TV-Y7: Directed at older children. This program is designed for children older than 7.
- TV-G: General audiences. Most parents find this material suitable for all ages.
- TV-PG: Parental guidance suggested. Program includes material that most parents would find unsuitable for younger children.
- TV-14: Parents strongly cautioned. This program contains some material that may be unsuitable for children under 14.
- TV-MA: Mature audiences. This program is specifically designed for adult viewing and may be unsuitable for children under 17.
