  • HR54 Genie eSATA Port
Looking at the specs and photos of the HR54 Genie, I see an eSATA port. Can I connect an external hard drive to that for extra storage? I know I can get double the capacity with the HS17 Genie 2, but I would rather have the newer model. Thank you.

  • $249.99 to upgrade my receiver H44/500 software?
Got a call from a person claiming to be Direct-TV account manager who is responsible for my account.  He claimed Direct-TV is re-positioning satellites and I will lose  receptions if I do not upgrade the software which will cost me $249.99 and this amount would be reimbursed six month later.  He wanted either my checking account number or a credit card number.  At this point I'm 100% sure this was a fraud. His name was Solomn James and the IT Technical number he gave me was 802-404-9914. If my receiver H44/500 really needs a software upgrade or hardware replacement, please post it in your reply and I will call Direct-TV service for it.

  • Guide fails to retain info for HD channels
Receiver type HR23/700 running software 0xd49 (Tue 4/20), no phone line connected, internet connected via hardwire from router 1) The receiver will populate all the "schedule list" aka Guide, after a red-button reset or power cycle. Within an hour or so all of the HD channels have dropped the info with "to be announced" showing in the channel fields. The SD channels still have proper guide info extended out a week or so as normal. This just started happening about a week ago (~12/23/21). The HD channels themselves work properly, I can select and watch just fine. 2) The receiver has auto-refreshed several times to download software since 4/20 so not sure why it shows an 8 month old version. 3) The receiver shows successful internet connection with result 88-443. On the website side, managing equipment shows it is "offline". 4) Sending a refresh signal from the website appears to have no effect. Should this "push" through the satellite connection?

  • Another "Is it my hard drive / Will an external fix the problem question."
Receiver: HR24/100   Software    Original Version: 0x357    Software:            0xd49.., Wed 4/28, 2:47a Dish: SL5 LNB Came back from vacation on 12/4 and dish was stuck on "...receiver self check..." screen. Tried red-button and unplugging to no avail. Pressed "UP" to enter diagnostic mode. Receiver would stay on diagnostic screen for several hours then go right to "receiver self-check" screen. Tried this cycle over the next hours/days with no luck. This morning (12/7) turned on the TV and the receiver was tuned to a station and appeared to be working. However, everything is beyond slow. It may take minuets to pull up the recordings, menu or schedule. The schedule is still incomplete, it only shows about three hours ahead.  So the $1000 question is - Does this sound like hard drive issue and if so can it be fixed by attaching an eSATA drive to the receiver? I don't care about any of the programs already recorded. I know AT&T is only distributing client receivers which I don't want. I have a HR34 and two HR24s and sometimes I use all nine tuner for recording (twice a week this happens - sad, I know).  If AT&T won't get me a HR24 can I purchase one from a reputable source?
