  • Channels moved to HD?
Hey, guys!  I think this is my first ever post here so go easy on me if I make any flubs.  Ok, I was just changing channels and on the guide, I saw several chans that we have that have been switched to HD.  I think that means high def and I think it means we need a new receiver and antenna?  We're still using our original antenna from I think 1995?  Our box is a D12-100 if that helps.  My question is well, just about everything.  What do we need to do?  Can I install anything myself like I did our antenna?  What sort of pricing are we looking at?  We have the premier package if that matters.  Thanks, all!

  • Another "Is it my hard drive / Will an external fix the problem question."
Receiver: HR24/100   Software    Original Version: 0x357    Software:            0xd49.., Wed 4/28, 2:47a Dish: SL5 LNB Came back from vacation on 12/4 and dish was stuck on "...receiver self check..." screen. Tried red-button and unplugging to no avail. Pressed "UP" to enter diagnostic mode. Receiver would stay on diagnostic screen for several hours then go right to "receiver self-check" screen. Tried this cycle over the next hours/days with no luck. This morning (12/7) turned on the TV and the receiver was tuned to a station and appeared to be working. However, everything is beyond slow. It may take minuets to pull up the recordings, menu or schedule. The schedule is still incomplete, it only shows about three hours ahead.  So the $1000 question is - Does this sound like hard drive issue and if so can it be fixed by attaching an eSATA drive to the receiver? I don't care about any of the programs already recorded. I know AT&T is only distributing client receivers which I don't want. I have a HR34 and two HR24s and sometimes I use all nine tuner for recording (twice a week this happens - sad, I know).  If AT&T won't get me a HR24 can I purchase one from a reputable source?

  • Who are these "experts"?
Just wondering how the "experts" get their "badges" when they treat the AT&T customers like this. When a customer asked a legitimate question concerning blocked ads, Juniper (@snodgrassg) gave this answer: "If it bothers you so much that there is no advertisement playing, then see if you could purchase the timeslot if you are eligible. Otherwise enjoy that there is a break without a commercial playing. Also as note for both DirecTV (satellite) and DIRECTV STREAM (rebrand again of the streaming-only service), there is only a single T in DirecTV. Just something to watch out for as many scams out there will have that extra T." I've seen many examples of these people, who are probably sitting in their parents basement, giving asinine comments and being condescending to AT&T customers. As a retired military veteran, I have badges and ribbons but they are earned by being on a team. Not self-appointed to make me look "smart". So clean up your forum please.
