  • HR54 Genie eSATA Port
Looking at the specs and photos of the HR54 Genie, I see an eSATA port. Can I connect an external hard drive to that for extra storage? I know I can get double the capacity with the HS17 Genie 2, but I would rather have the newer model. Thank you.

  • HR54 cannot detect swm
Had a lightning strike hit the power pole outside and it took out some electronics. Had an HR 54 receiver that no longer turned on, no display, no power button on, no nothing. DIRECTV sent me a new HR 54 receiver and I swapped it out and I get the display but an error of cannot detect swm. I checked the cable I’ve got 20.3 V DC up at the LNB so I figure it’s probably not the cable. Figured lightning charge may have took out the LNB also so I swapped it out with a new LNB. Still same problem. I’m at a loss now… Same model receiver just new, new LNB and a good cable and I get this problem, makes no sense! There is nothing else to check… It’s a slimline dish and the old LNB was SL3-SWM. New LNB is Reverse Band 3 Satellite LNB (3D2RBLNB). There has never been a power inserter or any splitters cause there’s only one TV and one receiver. The only thing that I could think of now is that the new receiver they sent me is no good??? Anyone have any ideas? Thanks!

  • Equipment upgrade
Hello all! My parents have been DirectTV customers forever.  Late 1990's I think.  Live in the woods. ;) They currently have an H23-600, HR44-200, two C51-500's, and two C41-500's. Each receiver has a coax connected to it.  I heard from someone that the latest technology only requires one unit to be connected via coax and then the others would connect wirelessly.  Is this info correct?  If so, which model receivers would these be and is an equipment upgrade/swap usually free for longtime customers? Many thanks!  fyi, I'm a technical guy familiar with big city cable, Comcast, but this DirecTV stuff is new to me. Bill

  • Roku audio is being clipped on DirectTv Stream
Just signed up and installed DirectTV Stream on my Roku Ultra device. It immediately started clipping the audio every 5 to 10 seconds. By clipping I mean the audio cuts out for about 1/2 to 1 second. Quite annoying. I played around with the audio settings on Roku and it didn't help. I uninstalled DirectTV Stream app, rebooted Roku device, reinstalled the app and it didn't help. I unplugged the Roku device and it didn't help.  I then installed it on my Fire stick from amazon on another TV and it works fine. No clipping of audio. So I installed it on another Roku device attached to another TV and had the same problem as the first Roku. Two of the TV's have a smart remote that is programmed for Roku so just switching to another streaming device would be a problem. If the problem cannot be fixed I would have to consider going to another streaming service. Roku device info: Model: 4670X-Roku Ultra Software: 10.5.0 Build: 4208-46 DirectTV Stream App info: Build: 30330101 Version: 3.27

  • Direct TV channels on new Sony Bravia TV
I just bought a new Sony Bravia TV. Whenever I look at the local channels or my TV streaming services, the picture fits the full screen of my tv. However, when I view a Direct tv channel it only fills up about 75% of my screen. This is true for all the Direct Tv channels. This is the same Direct Tv receiver that I have had since 2004 a model H25/500. Is it possible that this receiver is incompatible with the newer Sont tv sets? I went into the picture settings on both the Sony TV and Direct TV to switch settings but nothing changed. Also had Sony tech support to remote into my tv and they said I had all the latest updates and everything was fine with the Sony TV. Appreciate any help you can give me in this matter.

  • RC73 remote buttons not working on LG TV
I just replaced my Samsung TV with an LG OLED C1 series set. All the buttons on my Genie RC73 remote work with Samsung, but the Off, VOL and Mute buttons do NOT work with LG. Does anybody know whether the DirecTV universal remote would work better? I currently have a Genie Gen 2, Model HR44-200 receiver. Thx.
