Get and troubleshoot the DIRECTV App for Amazon Fire devices

How to use and troubleshoot the DIRECTV App on Fire Tablet, Fire TV, Fire Cube or Firestick devices. 

Ready to start watching DIRECTV on an Amazon Fire device? Make sure you have:


Once your Fire device is registered and connected to internet:

  1. Search for DIRECTV in the Amazon app store.
  2. Select Get to install.
  3. Select Open to launch.
  4. Have your DIRECTV credentials ready and sign in.

 

Heads up! Accessing the DIRECTV App on your Amazon Fire device will be limited to your home Wi-Fi network. You can change your Home Wi-Fi network up to 4 times within a 12-month period by relocating your DIRECTV device.

 

Troubleshooting

Network and data issues

Step 1: Check your network connection

  1. Select Settings, then System, and then Network.
  2. Locate your current network by finding the check mark and signal strength info next to it.


Step 2: Clear DIRECTV STREAM app cache and data

    1. Select Settings, then Apps, and then Manage Installed Apps.
    2. Choose the DIRECTV App.
    3. Select Clear cache and Clear data from the window that appears.
Upgrade/update issues 

Step 1: Free up storage

  • On the Fire TV home screen, go to: Settings > Applications > Manage installed Applications > Appstore > Clear Data and Clear Cache.
  • Click on Clear Data, then click on Clear Cache.
  • Wait 2 minutes before moving to next step.


Step 2: Uninstall/re-install updated DIRECTV App

  • Go to Fire TV home screen.
  • Go to: Settings > Applications > Manage Installed Applications > DIRECTV Stream > Uninstall.
  • Return to Fire TV home screen.
  • Search for DIRECTV.
  • Reinstall the App.

Tip: If you still have issues after following the above steps, try uninstalling apps you don’t use to free up storage. For more info, go to  Amazon Device Support.
