All about DIRECTV Genre Packs

Existing DIRECTV customers aren’t eligible for Genre Packs. If you’d like to switch to Genre Packs, you’ll need to cancel your existing account. Then you can sign up for a new account and shop for the Genre Packs that work for you.

New DIRECTV customers can choose either Genre Packs or a Signature Package when they sign up for DIRECTV service. Genre Packs and Signature Packages can’t be mixed.

Genre Packs are currently only available for streaming customers. Satellite customers can continue to enjoy the Signature Packages that have always been available to them.

Genre Packs are available in Base Packs and Mini Packs. To maintain service, Genre Pack customers must have a minimum of one Base Pack. Unlike Signature Packages, customers can have multiple base packs.

Mini Packs are optional. They allow customers to add even more genre focused content to their Genre Packs. Mini Packs can only be added to certain base packs. For instance, the MySports Extra Mini Pack is only available to customers who have the MySports Genre Pack. See more details under Mini Packs Eligibility based on Base Pack Selection.

There are several differences between Genre Packs and DIRECTV’s original Signature Packages:

• At this time, new customers can choose either Genre Packs or a Signature Package.
• Genre Packs are focused on a single type of content, like sports, entertainment, news, or family programming. Every Signature Package contains a wide range of entertainment, sports, information, news and other programming.
• Genre Packs include between 13-53 channels and some include streaming services. All Signature Packages include well over 100 channels.

Base Packs

MySports: A curated selection of 27 sports related channels including NBA TV, NFL Network, MLB Network, ESPN, NBA TV, and the NHL Network. Also includes a subscription to the ESPN+ streaming service. Check out the complete channel lineup here.

MyNews: 13 channels of news content including FOX, CNN, CNBC, MSNBC, Newsmax, and DIRECTV News Mix. Check out the complete channel lineup here.

MiEspañol: 53 channels of Spanish-language content including ESPN Deportes, Telemundo, FOX Deportes, CNN En Español, and much more. Check out the complete channel lineup here.

Mini Packs

MyCinema: 7 channels of movie related content including Family Movie Classic, Sony Movies and more. Check out the complete channel lineup here.

MySports Extra: 7 channels of sports related content including NFL Red Zone and more. Check out the complete channel lineup here.

The Mini Packs you qualify for depend on the Base Pack you select:

MySports: You can choose MySports Extra, MyHome Team, MyCinema.
MyEntertainment/ MyKids/ MyNews: You can choose MyCinema.
MiEspañol: No eligible Mini Packs.

No, Mini Packs are only available if you have a qualifying Base Pack. You must first subscribe to a Base Pack to be eligible for Mini Packs.

Yes! You can make changes at any time. Here’s how:

1. Go to My TV Package .
2. Choose Add or Remove the Genre Packs you want to modify.
3. Review your desired changes and select Submit to save.

Important Note: You can have as many Base Packs as you want, but you must have a minimum of one Base Pack. After you remove one, you’ll still be able to access your content until the end of your billing cycle.

Currently, the only way to switch is to cancel your existing DIRECTV account. Here’s how:

1. Cancel your existing DIRECTV service.
2. Then go to directv.com/packages and explore Genre Pack options.
3. Select one or more Genre Packs and follow on-screen prompts.

Yes! And if you upgrade to Genre Packs, you’ll still have access to all the content in MyFree DIRECTV.

1. Log in to your MyFree DIRECTV account.
2. Select the “Explore new packages” option.
3. Select one or more Genre Packs and follow the on-screen prompts.

Charges for added Genre Packs may be prorated, depending on your billing cycle. You’ll be able to review pricing details before confirming any changes.

If you already have an ESPN+ subscription through Disney and signed up for MySports Genre Pack, using the same ID, both subscriptions will appear in your Disney account. You will have the option to manage or cancel your existing ESPN+ subscription through Disney to avoid duplicate charges.

To activate and watch ESPN+:

1. Check your email from DIRECTV with an activation link.
2. Click the link and sign in (or create an account) with ESPN+.
3. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the activation process.
4. Once activated, download the streaming app (if you haven’t already) and sign in to your account to start watching.

If you already have a Disney+ subscription through Disney and signed up for MyEntertainment Genre Pack, using the same ID, both subscriptions will appear in your Hulu account. You will have the option to manage or cancel your existing Disney+ subscription through Hulu to avoid having duplicate accounts.

How do I activate and watch Disney+ included in Genre Packs?

To activate and watch Disney+:

1. Check your email from DIRECTV with an activation link.
2. Click the link and sign in (or create an account).
3. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the activation process.
4. Once activated, download the streaming app (if you haven’t already) and sign in to your account to start watching.

If you already have a Hulu subscription through Disney and signed up for MyEntertainment Genre Pack, you will have the option to manage or cancel your existing Hulu subscription through Disney to avoid having duplicate accounts. Here's how:

1. Go to your Disney account and cancel your subscription.
2. Wait till the end of your billing cycle.
3. Check your email from DIRECTV with an activation link.
4. Click the link and sign in (or create an account).
5. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the activation process.
6. Once activated, download the streaming app (if you haven’t already) and sign in to your account to start watching.

Note: If you want to keep your existing Hulu subscription and activate the DIRECTV Disney+, Hulu Bundle Basic, you will need to create new credentials for the DIRECTV Disney+, Hulu Bundle Basic and then activate the new subscription.

If you already have a Disney+, Hulu Bundle Basic subscription through Disney and signed up for MyEntertainment Genre Pack, you will have the option to manage or cancel your existing Disney Disney+, Hulu Bundle Basic subscription through Disney to avoid having duplicate accounts. Here's how:

1. Go to your Disney account and cancel your subscription.
2. Wait till the end of your billing cycle.
3. Check your email from DIRECTV with an activation link.
4. Click the link and sign in (or create an account).
5. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the activation process.
6. Once activated, download the streaming app (if you haven’t already) and sign in to your account to start watching.

Note: If you want to keep your existing Disney+, Hulu Bundle Basic subscription and activate the DIRECTV Disney+, Hulu Bundle Basic, you will need to create new credentials for the DIRECTV Disney+, Hulu Bundle Basic and then activate the new subscription.

Your activation link is sent to the email address associated with your DIRECTV account. If you don’t see it, check your spam or promotions folder. You can also find activation links in the Base Pack card under Manage packages and add-ons.

Yes, you can access and watch your streaming services on multiple supported devices, such as smart TVs, streaming sticks, mobile devices, and web browsers. However, the number of simultaneous streams will vary by service.

If you’re experiencing issues activating your streaming service:

• Ensure you are using the correct email and password for the streaming service.
• The activation link is valid for 7 days and a refreshed link will be emailed every 7 days until you activate.
• Try clearing your browser cache or using a different browser.
• Restart your device and try again.
• If the issue persists, contact customer support for Disney.

The difference between DIRECTV Entertainment Signature Package and MyEntertainment in Genre Packs is the following:

• Entertainment: A Signature Package that offers over 100 channels featuring news, sports, and entertainment.
• MyEntertainment: A Genre Base Pack that offers dozens of popular entertainment channels.

MySports and MySports Beta include the same channels and content, but MySports Beta is only available to select users and allows them to switch to a Signature Package. MySports Beta is no longer available to new customers and was replaced by the MySports Base Pack.

MySports Extra is only available if you already have MySports. MySports Extra offers additional channels and content you can access at an affordable price!
