  • Black Screen with Acquiring Guide Data
My problem started when I was trying to connect my DirectV new server/receiver to the wireless internet.  It wasn't finding the faster wireless network eventhough every other device in the house, e.g. Iphone, computers, etc,. have the network working fine.  I called Directv and they sent me a new server.  I installed the new server and was getting the same problem.  So, I took it off and reinstalled the one I had since it had my recordings and was already connected to all the other Genie's in the house.  Since then, patience is not my strong suit, I have not been able to watch Directv.  Everything works but I cannot watch any of my recordings or live TV.  It looks like it is trying to refresh all my guide data because there are gray and blank boxes.  I know I did refresh the box too many times yesterday and I've hit red buttons, on both the server and the Genie mini's too many times.  Basically I have a black screen on main tv and the last message I got was "Acquiring Guide Data".  The other tv's in the house all have white screens.  So, I am assuming that I have plugged up the satellite feed data with too many versions of the guide data trying to download.  I should have left the tv on last night and maybe that would have cleared it up.  So, my question is, is there anyway to clear out the "pipeline" so it's stops trying to receive the data or do I just have to leave it on and see if it clears itself?

  • Adding a casita
Im building a detached suite for my mother next to our house. She wants her own HD DVR for the living room and a mini for her bedroom. We will be putting drywall up soon so I want to get wires in the walls and figure out what I need to do to my home installation to support it.  I have a HR54-500 in our living room and that's it. On my box outside I have a straight through connection to my DVR from the dish. No splitters, only couplers. Any advice is appreciated.Dan

  • In-wall coaxial cable requirements for HD DVR
I'm in the process of remodeling my backyard workshop into an In-Law suite. I would eventually like to put an HD DVR box out there and connect it to my existing dish. It's currently down to studs and insulation, so I'd like to run my in-wall line(s) before the drywall goes up next week. My in-wall run will be no more than 50 feet, and then it's another ~100 feet from the exterior of the workshop to my dish. What's the minimum I can get away with without my installer wanting to re-fish "DirecTV-approved" cables? Do I need RG6 solid copper core with a ground for the in-wall, or could I make do with RG6 CCS?

  • How can I block adult content on DIRECTV?
AT&T has been an American Institution since its founding in 1885. And now it is the apparent owner of DirecTV, since DirecTV is being touted as being a part of the AT&T Family.   One of the services, namely Subscription and On Demand Porn, is not a new Service to DirecTV. I have never ordered it, and have no intention to ever do so. But as a subscriber to the AT&T "Family" I do want to voice this concern: Look at any of the many AT&T related websites: There are photos of employees on these sites, all of them presenting a decent, wholesome and diversified group of AT&T employees.     But then consider what these AT&T "wholesome" employees are offering to those who subscribe to DirecTV: Last night, I was reviewing availble Programming via the HD channels in the high 500's. As I continued to scroll down the Channel List, I came upon what the Adult Channels were offering. One show was called, "Young, Dumb and Needy." The description of of it said, "Filthy young deviants live only to___________."   YOU fill in the blank. I have quoted as much as I need to quote to make my point.   Just wondering: Is it the "wholesome" AT&T Employees who provide the text for the descriptions of the Pornography that is available to subscribers?    While I can and will ignore or bypass these Channels, what about our kids who are scanning available channels to see what AT&T offers. The language in the descriptions of the shows and movies on these Porn Channels is uncensored, graphic, vulgar, and leaves nothing to the imagination!!   Is THIS the kind of "entertainment" that AT&T considers suitable to offer to its DirecTV subscribers?   ~vanthony
