Movies Anywhere is a service that lets you sync your eligible movie purchases across participating digital retailers, including DIRECTV. By connecting your DIRECTV account to your Movies Anywhere account, all the eligible movies purchased from other digital retailers that are connected to your Movies Anywhere account become available to watch on DIRECTV (subject to availability of those movies with DIRECTV.) Your eligible movie library* will also be available in Movies Anywhere and other connected digital retailers, subject to availability with each digital retailer.

Movies Anywhere makes the movie watching experience easier and better by offering one home for your favorite purchased movies from participating digital retailers. When you connect your Movies Anywhere account with your DIRECTV and other digital retailer accounts, all your eligible movie purchases will be accessible as one central library to watch anywhere, anytime.

*Only eligible movies that appear in your “Purchase History” in your DIRECTV account are eligible to sync with Movies Anywhere. Movie rentals are not supported.

Movies Anywhere currently supports certain movies from the participating studios listed below. Check back regularly as the movie catalog and list of participating studios changes!

  • Sony Pictures Entertainment

  • Universal Pictures (including DreamWorks and Illumination Entertainment)

  • The Walt Disney Studios (including Disney, Pixar, Twentieth Century Studios, Marvel Studios and Lucasfilm)

  • Warner Bros. Entertainment

All movies available on Movies Anywhere can be found via the Home page of Movies Anywhere by browsing categories and genres or utilizing the search function.


Movies Anywhere features a wide range of movies across several major studios. You can view the full list of studios that are participating in Movies Anywherehere
You'll be able to see which movies are eligible for Movies Anywhere on DIRECTV by the Movies Anywhere logo displayed on the movie information page. Movie eligibility for the Movies Anywhere service is subject to change at any time without prior notice.

Sign up for Movies Anywhere through https://www.moviesanywhere.com or download and sign up through the free Movies Anywhere app. More information on creating a Movies Anywhere account can be found here. Movies Anywhere is open to U.S. residents 13+.


To connect your account to Movies Anywhere, visit https://moviesanywhere.com/welcome and click "Join Now" to create a Movies Anywhere account or select "Log In" if you already have one. Once you are inside your Movies Anywhere account, go to settings and select "Manage Retailers". Click "Connect" on DIRECTV and follow the instructions to connect your accounts.

Only one Movies Anywhere account can be connected with your DIRECTV at any one time. These accounts may be individually disconnected by you at any time. However, an individual DIRECTV account to which a Movies Anywhere account is connected cannot be switched to a different DIRECTV account more than once in any 180 day period.

Connecting your DIRECTV account syncs all your eligible movie titles between Movies Anywhere and your connected digital retailers. The movies in your digital retailer accounts are subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable digital retailer service.  

To connect your DIRECTV account using the Movies Anywhere mobile app:

  1. Open the Movies Anywhere app.
  2. Log in to your existing Movies Anywhere account or create a new one.
  3.  Open the Movies Anywhere settings.
  4. Select “Manage Retailers”.
  5. Select “Connect” on DIRECTV.
  6. Follow all on-screen instructions to connect your accounts.
  7. Currently, only U.S. DIRECTV accounts are eligible to connect to Movies Anywhere.

Once you connect your DIRECTV account to your Movies Anywhere account, you are subject to the DIRECTV Residential Customer Agreement and Privacy Policy, and theMovies Anywhere Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.


You can connect a DIRECTV via Internet or DIRECTV via Satellite account to your Movies Anywhere. You will not be able to connect your U-verse account.

No, you can only connect one account type: DIRECTV via Internet or DIRECTV via Satellite, but not both, to Movies Anywhere. If you have more than one DIRECTV via Internet or DIRECTV via Satellite account, you can switch accounts connected to your Movies Anywhere account once every 180 days. If you encounter an error, please contact Movies Anywhere customer service.

  1. Go to https://www.moviesanywhere.com and sign in or create your Movies Anywhere account.
  2. Select your name on the top right corner to access your account settings and choose Manage Retailers.
  3. Check the connect status for DIRECTV to see if your account is connected or not.

You can purchase an eligible Movies Anywhere title from DIRECTV the same way you purchase a movie today. For more information, visit www.directv.com/purchases.
The title will be automatically added to your DIRECTV library, Movies Anywhere library, and any other digital retail account that you connected to your Movies Anywhere account. It may take up to 24 hours for your movie to appear. Please visit the Movies Anywhere help center for more information and assistance

DIRECTV via Internet
  • You can find your eligible Movies Anywhere titles in the purchases folder on your DIRECTV device, 3rd Party device, DIRECTV App, or directv.com.
    • To watch on a 3rd Party device, a compatible device is required.
    • To watch on the DIRECTV App or on directv.com, a compatible device is required.
DIRECTV via Satellite
  • You can find your eligible Movies Anywhere titles in the purchases folder on your Set-Top-Box, the DIRECTV App, or directv.com.
    • To watch on your set-top box, broadband connected Genie HD DVR is required.
    • To watch on the DIRECTV App or on directv.com, a compatible device is required.
  • You can find a list of supported DIRECTV devices at www.directv.com/purchases. Note that you will need the following mobile software versions:
    • iPhone – 5.21.004 or higher
    • iPad – 5.21.006 or higher
    • Android Phone – 5.21.003 or higher
    • Android Tablet – 5.21.003.RC or higher
Movies Anywhere
  • You can also watch your eligible Movies Anywhere titles on the Movies Anywhere website, Movies Anywhere app, or through your other connected digital retailer accounts. Please visit the Movies Anywhere help center for more information and assistance

Yes, if all the criteria below are met, then you can watch the movie on DIRECTV:
  1. Your DIRECTV and the other digital retailer account are connected to your Movies Anywhere account.
  2. The movie title is also available from DIRECTV.
  3. The movie title is in High-Definition resolution or higher.
You can find out if a particular Movies Anywhere eligible movie title is available on DIRECTV by performing a search on the DIRECTV device, DIRECTV app, or directv.com.
It could take up to 24 hours for an eligible title to be automatically added to your DIRECTV library, Movies Anywhere library, and any other digital retail account that you connected to your Movies Anywhere account.

No, you can only cancel your purchase with the digital retailer from which you purchased the title. Contact the retailer for more information.


To determine the digital retailer from which you purchased a specific Movies Anywhere–eligible title, go to https://www.moviesanywhere.com > Settings > Transaction History to find the title. Or you can visit https://help.moviesanywhere.com for information and assistance.


Important: You can only connect one (1) DIRECTV account to your Movies Anywhere account. You can switch accounts once every 180 days.

To disconnect your DIRECTV account:

  1. Go to the Movies Anywhere website or mobile app.

  2. Tap your Profile Pic. 
    On website: Click the arrow next to the Profile name and select "Settings".

  3. Under "Digital Retailers", select "Manage". 
    On website: Select "Manage Retailers".

  4. Select "Disconnect" next to the DIRECTV account.


There are two ways to withdraw your consent for DIRECTV to share information with Movies Anywhere and disconnect your DIRECTV account from your Movies Anywhere account:

  1. Access your DIRECTV account and follow the instructions.

  2. Access your Movies Anywhere account settings, Manage Retailers, and select "Disconnect" for DIRECTV.


If you disconnect your DIRECTV account from your Movies Anywhere account, all Movies Anywhere-eligible titles you previously purchased from DIRECTV and all movies that previously came into your DIRECTV purchases folder from your Movies Anywhere account, including movies purchased from other connected Movies Anywhere participating digital retailers, will remain in your DIRECTV purchases folder. 
 
Going forward, any Movies Anywhere-eligible movies you purchase from another Movies Anywhere participating digital retailer will not appear in your DIRECTV purchases folder, and any Movies Anywhere-eligible movies you purchase from DIRECTV will not appear in your Movies Anywhere account.


Yes, your DIRECTV account will automatically be disconnected from your Movies Anywhere account.


If you cancel your DIRECTV service, the Movies Anywhere-eligible titles you purchased will no longer be available for viewing through DIRECTV. However, if your DIRECTV account is connected to your Movies Anywhere account before you cancel your DIRECTV service, your eligible DIRECTV purchases will appear in your Movies Anywhere account. You can continue to access those movies using Movies Anywhere, subject to the Movies Anywhere Terms of Use.


To renew your consent, you will need to disconnect your DIRECTV account from your Movies Anywhere account and then reconnect your DIRECTV account to your Movies Anywhere account.

  1. Sign into your Movies Anywhere account.
  2. Go to your account settings and select Manage Retailers.
  3. Select Disconnect next to DIRECTV and follow the instructions to disconnect.
  4. Select the Reconnect or Renew button for DIRECTV and follow the prompts.

Once you connect your DIRECTV account to your Movies Anywhere account, you are subject to the DIRECTV Residential Customer Agreement and Privacy Policy, and theMovies Anywhere Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.
