A Brighter TV Future with Ray Carpenter

On Tuesday, September 3, DIRECTV CFO Ray Carpenter hosted a call with industry analysts covering media to discuss the state of the television industry, including DIRECTV’s vision, the role of the Walt Disney Company (NYSE: DIS) plays in destroying the pay TV value proposition, and a path forward that prioritizes and protects consumers.

DIRECTV continues to pursue a new agreement to bring value back to pay TV consumers. DIRECTV seeks to establish lower-priced, flexible packages that include channels and direct-to-consumer services grouped by entertainment, kids, family content, and more. DIRECTV’s goal is to help customers get content from various sources based on the types of content they watch instead of being dictated to by programmers who produce or license it.
