Those planning the Paris Games, however, wanted to not only showcase the talented athletes, but also the beautiful city they are competing in.

Where Is the 2024 Olympic Games Opening Ceremony Taking Place?

As mentioned above, this year’s 2024 Paris Olympic Games will start with an open-air parade that will travel along the streets (and the Seine) of Paris, passing iconic monuments and thousands of passionate fans from around the globe.

Parade boats will carry thousands of Olympic athletes down the Seine, from east to west over six kilometers. The boats will have cameras on them, giving audiences at home a chance to catch a glimpse at their favorite athlete on board. There will also be giant screens dispersed along the parade route so fans in person can get a close up look at the excitement, too.

According to the official Olympics website, the parade will follow the Seine east to west for over six kilometers. Departing from the Austerlitz bridge, athletes will make their way through to the center of the city, passing under a number of bridges to get there. They will continue on until coming to a stop at the ceremony’s finale location, the Trocadéro.
