Everyone’s favorite “flamboyant” lawyer, Jimmy McGill and Better Call Saul just concluded its highly anticipated sixth (and final) season which was split into two, six-episode sections on AMC ,
The storyline further aligns with Breaking Bad. And included cameos from Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul. But even with appearances from high profile star power, Bob Odenkirk’s charismatic and energetic Jimmy McGill is truly the main event.

Whether Jimmy or Saul, his character runs the gamut of good, bad and everything in between. A true example of the balance of humanity, and that’s what makes him – and the show – so good. Let’s take a moment to relive some of Jimmy’s most human moments from the beginning.

A Selfless Caregiver
“Hey, the world is a rich tapestry, my friends.”- Jimmy McGill
When it comes to Chuck (portrayed by Michael McKean) and Jimmy, we often see a complicated dichotomy of loyalty and competition, as is the case with many siblings. But throughout the first season we see a humbled Jimmy who looks out for his housebound brother as he battles with crippling mental illness. After a misunderstanding, Jimmy is faced with a tough decision whether to have his brother committed as the hospital suggests. Although we often see Jimmy taking the low road, especially when it comes to his rival Hamlin, the moment when he decides to take his brother home, despite the perceived personal gain of having him committed, we really get a glimpse at his softer side.
Blowing Off Some Steam
“Uh, no, I look like a young Paul Newman dressed as Matlock.” – Jimmy McGill
This may not be the first time we see Jimmy’s playful side, especially when it comes to clothing (I mean, he did adopt a Matlock-esque aesthetic for a while), but the montage where he tries to get fired from D&M to preserve his hiring bonus, is equal parts funny and embarrassing. And what’s more human than that?
Living in the Shadow
“Sometimes the good guys win.” – Jimmy McGill
Jimmy and Chuck’s tumultuous familial relationship is a main focal point and anytime the brothers come together we see a very human side of each of them. After Jimmy makes it into the New Mexico bar, him and Chuck celebrate together, eventually singing a karaoke duet. Ideally foreshadowing the future of their relationship, singing ABBA’s “The Winner Takes It All,” with Chuck eventually taking over the song completely while Jimmy amicably sits back. When it comes to his brother, Jimmy often must take the back seat, and in this moment, he seems ok with the role he’s been cast in life.
It’s All Good, Man
“I’m not good at building sh!t, you know? I’m excellent at tearing it down.” – Jimmy McGill
Being human doesn’t just mean being a saint. In fact, some of the most humanizing moments are when we drop the façade and let our true selves shine. In Jimmy’s case, and much to Kim’s astonishment, this doesn’t necessarily shine a positive light on the newly reinstated lawyer. But it does come with a pretty cool name.
Jimmy and Kim Tie the Knot
“It’s never too late for congratulations.” – Jimmy McGill
In a completely sterile and by the book service at the courthouse, Kim (played by Rhea Seehorn) and Jimmy get hitched. But despite the bleak surroundings and strange witnesses, the pair look completely at ease with one another, and genuinely seem happy as the scene concludes. Jimmy may not be a romantic, but he still knows how to love.
