The Real Housewives of Atlanta kicked off its 14th season last night and intends to bring the same drama and shade that fans of the franchise have come to love and expect. To commemorate the occasion, DIRECTV called on Frank Costa (@feistyfrank), digital producer of Watch Bravo’s What Happens Live, to live tweet the whole thing with his own special brand of flair. And there was quite a bit to talk about.

The first episode, “The Edge of Fashion” reintroduces the Atlanta housewives after a hiatus of over a year. The new season comes with the departures of Cynthia Bailey and Porsha Williams (who got her own show, The Real Housewives of Atlanta: Porsha’s Family Matters). To make up for the losses, we’re introduced to a few familiar faces and a new one alongside #RHOA alums Kandi Burruss, Kenya Moore and Drew Sidora.
Before we meet everyone, the stage is set with a recap what the ladies have been up to, we get a glimpse into Kenya’s journey on Dancing with the Stars.

Those who have been watching Real Housewives from the beginning probably recognize Shereé Whitfield, who was a regular until season 10 and a worthy addition.

And possibly most noteworthy, beloved fashionista “friend,” Marlo Hampton has finally gotten a permanent role on the show.

Keeping busy, Marlo highlights her new fashion showroom, Le’ Archive and the fact that she is raising her nephews which has Frank and fans calling for her nomination as “Munty of the Year.”

The one and only brand new cast member, Sanya Richards-Ross comes with quite the resume. The mom, wife and businesswoman is also a four-time Olympic gold medalist in track and field and is married to former NFL player, Aaron Ross.

Throughout the initial episode, we get a few highs, a couple lows and plenty of drama. Including some awkward moments, like when Hampton’s event highlights the fact that party planning may not be her forte.
