Just like her character, Cameron Diaz is “back in action.” The last time fans saw her on screen was in 2014 in Annie, and in 2018, she announced that she was officially retiring from Hollywood.
Diaz rose to fame in the ‘90s with her breakthrough role, The Mask, starring Jim Carrey. From there, she went on to become one of the biggest and highest-paid actresses in Hollywood, starring in hits such as My Best Friend’s Wedding, Charlie’s Angels, Vanilla Sky, The Holiday, The Other Woman and many more. She is also known as the voice of Princess Fiona in the popular Shrek franchise.
After decades in the spotlight, she announced she was going to stop acting in order to focus on her family and overall well-being. She has two kids with her husband Benji Madden. During this time, she also started an organic wine company called Avaline.
In 2022, Diaz said that she would be coming out of retirement to co-star in Back in Action. Jamie Foxx made the announcement by posting a phone call on X of him and quarterback Tom Brady (who returned to the NFL after a short-lived retirement) giving tips to Diaz about how to “un-retire.”
