Belle Starr (Jane Russell), a voluptuous outlaw, is lying low in a small desert town with Bob Dalton (Scott Brady) and his feckless bank robber brothers. When wealthy saloon keeper Tom Bradfield (George Brent) takes a liking to her, Belle reassesses her options and considers playing the men against each another. Knowing that Tom wants to get Bob out of the picture, she leads one suitor on a crime spree against the other while puzzling through her complicated romances.
