Our Gemini Air device is provided to and used exclusively by our DIRECTV via Internet customers. It is smaller than our Gemini device, however the functionality of both is similar.

Our Gemini device is provided to our DIRECTV Satellite customers to use together with their satellite TV equipment, i.e. HD DVR receiver, Genies and Genie minis for both the wired and wireless varieties.

The functionality of both Gemini and Gemini Air is to allow customers the ability to integrate their favorite TV streaming apps to the DIRECTV experience. Also, for customers who do not have a smart TV with internet access, the Gemini and Gemini Air devices provide a solution so that your old TV is now smart!

Both Gemini Air and Gemini require a high-speed internet connection.


Absolutely not. Our Gemini device works well for our DIRECTV Internet customers. All new DIRECTV Internet customers are provided the Gemini Air.

DIRECTV satellite customers can order online by logging into your DIRECTV account and selecting manage my equipment or contact our customer service department.


Gemini will work with any other DIRECTV hardware you already have. Gemini can be installed on any TV, just like your Genie® Minis are today.


Right now, you can access over thousands of streaming apps. And very soon, you will be able to access even more. Separate subscription/login required for 3rd party app content. High speed internet required.

For the best experience and enhanced features, we recommended speeds of 8Mbps per stream.

For the fastest return method: Take your equipment directly to your nearest FedEx® Office Print & Ship Center or The UPS Store® location. No need to pack anything—just bring your equipment in a sturdy bag or open box, along with your 9-digit account number (located on the packing slip on your bill). Do not include your remote control, cables, accessories or any personal equipment, such as DVD players. If for any reason you removed the access card from the receiver, be sure to return it in the package as well. Your equipment will be scanned, packed, labeled and returned to DIRECTV. Once it’s scanned, your return will immediately be noted on your account. Or you can pack the equipment yourself in the box your replacement receiver came in, or another suitable box, and use the supplied return shipping label. (Remember to keep the bottom portion of the label for your records.) Then just hand the box to your letter carrier or drop it off at your local Post Office.™ Your return will be noted on your account when we receive it, which could take up to 2 weeks.
